See my sig for what I am referring to. Recently when towing moderately for a couple hours about 5000 lbs at highway speeds in 80+ degree weather. I stop the truck after normal EGT cooldown. About 10-15 minutes later when I go to restart it it just cranks. I stop for a couple seconds and try again and it cranks and almost starts.. then I stop for another couple seconds and try again.. it normally starts then and runs fine. I can recreate this again an hour or two later the next place I stop. When cold it cranks over and starts right up normally. Any ideas?- My fuel pressure is a constant 15-16 but I have heard my return banjo bolt on the VP44 could be bad - no details on how this would cause hard start tho- I have not checked codes but will report if I find anyTruck has only 71,000 miles.

lotero,Thanks for the information... I followed it and it definitely applies to my truck as it was built in 2/00 and my Engine # falls between the range they give in the TSB. Have you not tried this TSB yourself?I think I will have to give the dealer a call next week after I get back to town and try to get this done. That should be a pleasant experience!??!! HA!

Well the truck has been stopped and started several times since these symptoms occurred 4 days ago but there are no codes.. just "P done". I am leaving on a trip this weekend again for 1300 miles round trip. Maybe it these starting issues will occur then and I'll stop to check codes.

my pump never left a single code. It just kept getting worse and then I started getting the dead pedal. I replaced it before it left me stranded.

good (or bad) to know. Thanks Gabe. Crap.. oh well with 6 years and 71,000 miles currently you'd think I'd still be under warranty from what I read in other threads regarding the 8-yr 136,000 mile warranty on the engine. BTW how long (miles) did it take after you first noticed this issue to finally get bad enough that you replaced the VP?
